Silva vs Wang: five rounds for a vacant belt

Silva came in unbeaten in the UFC, and the vacant 125-pound title was hers to lose. UFC.com’s recap says she used her varied striking and movement to build a lead over the first two rounds. Wang had her best moments late, closing the gap in the championship rounds and landing her best shots in the final moments of the fifth, but it came too late on the cards.

It was only the third fight of the night to reach the judges, and they had it 48-47, 48-47 and 49-46, all for Silva. According to UFC.com, that makes her 9-0 in the UFC and the fifth champion in the division’s history. UFC.com’s verdict on Wang: she “should remain in the championship mix”.

Talbott needs half a round against Figueiredo

The co-main was over at 2:09 of the first round. UFC.com reports that Talbott dropped Figueiredo early with a right hand, then hurt him with an elbow along the fence and kept throwing until referee Jason Herzog stepped in. It was Talbott’s first fight in 10 months, and he used the microphone to call out Sean O’Malley. Nothing has been booked.

The rest of the main card

Esteban Ribovics ended King Green’s winning streak with a TKO at 4:08 of round one, putting him down three times. UFC.com says Ribovics missed weight on Friday. It’s his second straight win over a veteran and puts him at 6-3 in the Octagon. Roman Kopylov stopped Ateba Gautier at 3:12 of the first. Roberto Soldić, 31, in his UFC debut and coming off a layoff of almost 600 days (UFC.com), won the only other main-card fight to go the distance: a unanimous decision over Khaos Williams (29-28, 29-27, 29-27).

Prelims and early prelims: the record night

The finishes started early and kept coming. Johnny Walker made his heavyweight debut and knocked out Mick Parkin with a knee at 3:35 of round one. Anthony Wint needed 23 seconds to stop Lucas Armand. Damian Pinas knocked out Andrey Pulyaev with an uppercut at 1:15, and Imanol Rodriguez dropped Alden Coria with a body kick at 3:11 and finished him.
