Raul Rosas Jr. needed 43 seconds. In the submission-only main event of Hype FC Rome on Tuesday 3 November, he made Colby Covington tap, and he had taken the fight on three days’ notice. The card at the PalaPellicone in Lido di Ostia started at 19:00 Rome time (18:00 GMT, 13:00 ET, 20:00 Riga) and was shown on DAZN. Below is how the main event went and every result Hype and DAZN have confirmed so far. The full card and fighter pages are on our Hype FC Rome event page.

Rosas Jr. vs Covington: over before it started
Rosas Jr. wasn’t meant to be in Rome at all. Covington was booked to face Dillon Danis, and when Danis pulled out, Hype announced Rosas Jr. as the new main event on 1 November. The rules suited a quick night: one round, submissions only.
It didn’t take long. According to reports, Rosas Jr. shot in for a low takedown almost straight away, climbed onto Covington’s back and finished it with a rear-naked choke. DAZN puts the tap at 43 seconds.
Conor McGregor was at ringside as a guest, and both men gave him a shout-out on the mic afterwards, according to reports.
What’s next for Covington
He won’t have long to think about it. Hype has already booked Covington for Hype FC Chile on 20 December at the Santander Arena in Santiago, another submission-only main event, this time against Ignacio Bahamondes. Nothing has been announced for Rosas Jr. yet.
The rest of the Hype FC Rome card
The undercard was mostly bare knuckle. Ali Heibati beat Francesco Morandi by TKO in the first round. Tornike Svanidze, “Toka Gaz”, stopped Joilton Lutterbach in the second round of a dirty boxing fight, and Ramzan Magamaev knocked out Theo Saget in the first.

Nikoloz Bokelavadze and Antonio Oprea fought to a draw. According to reports it was a majority draw. On the prelims, Said-Khusein Akhyadov beat Ričards Hauberts and Harun Uzun beat Constantin Vasilachi. Hype hasn’t said how either fight was won, but reports have both going to unanimous decisions, Uzun’s 29-27 on all three cards.
Hype hasn’t posted a result for Waheed Arabsada vs Joshua Nimako. According to reports it was ruled a no contest. We’ll add the rest of the card once Hype confirms it.
