Samba Sima puts his unbeaten record on the line against Léopold Goi for the vacant Hexagone MMA flyweight title on Saturday, 24 October, at the Zénith Paris – La Villette. It’s a five-round main event for Hexagone MMA, which bills itself as France’s number one MMA organisation, and a clean contrast in styles: a 23-year-old who has knocked out all four of his professional opponents against a 29-year-old who has won six of his eight fights by submission.

Samba Sima: four fights, four finishes

Sima’s pro debut in full: a second-round head-kick knockout of Kleider Sandoval at Hexagone MMA 27, 25 April 2025 (French commentary). Full fight on Hexagone MMA’s YouTube.

Sima arrived with a serious amateur résumé. Sherdog’s amateur record shows a win at the 2024 French MMA Championship and a run to the final of the 2024 IMMAF World Championships: three first-round stoppages before a unanimous-decision loss to Jamshid Tilyaev.

As a pro he has been ruthless. He knocked out Sandoval with a head kick, then stopped Zelimkhan Umarov and Nikolai Makarenko in the second round and Leonardo de Oliveira in the first. Hexagone’s own fighter page lists him at 4-0 with all four wins by KO/TKO. He is long and loose for the division and switches levels with his kicks, so opponents have to guard everything at once.

Recent form (Sherdog / Hexagone):

  • W TKO 1 (3:48) Leonardo de Oliveira, Hexagone 45, 12.06.2026
  • W TKO 2 (4:59) Nikolai Makarenko, Hexagone 37, 09.01.2026
  • W TKO 2 (1:38) Zelimkhan Umarov, Hexagone 32, 10.08.2025
  • W KO 2 (0:12) Kleider Sandoval, Hexagone 27, 25.04.2025

Léopold Goi: the grappler who’s been here before

Goi’s knockout of Ilie Meryacre at Hexagone MMA 30 in Reims, 7 June 2025, in full: a third-round knee to the body (French commentary). Full fight on Hexagone MMA’s YouTube.

Goi, “Leonidas” on Sherdog and fighting out of Team Chapa Quente, is the more experienced man by a distance. Six of his eight wins came by submission, including first-round arm-triangle and guillotine finishes early in his career, and he showed against Meryacre that he can hurt people standing too.

This is also his second shot at this belt in eight months. In February at Hexagone 40 in Aix-en-Provence he fought Romero dos Reis for the flyweight title and was knocked out by a flying knee within seconds of the opening bell. Hexagone’s own report says dos Reis was crowned champion that night. The belt is vacant again, according to RMC Sport, Hexagone’s broadcaster; we haven’t seen an explanation from Hexagone for why dos Reis isn’t defending it.

Recent form (Sherdog / Hexagone):

  • L TKO 1 (flying knee) Romero dos Reis, Hexagone 40, 28.02.2026 (flyweight title)
  • W KO 3 (1:24, knee to the body) Ilie Meryacre, Hexagone 30, 07.06.2025
  • W SUB 2 (guillotine) Maximilien Vallot, Hexagone 21, 23.11.2024
  • W UD Martin McNulty, Hexagone 16, 24.05.2024
  • L SUB 1 (rear-naked choke) Mehdi Saadi, Ares 9, 03.11.2022

Styles: how Sima vs Goi plays out

It’s a familiar question with a short answer if one of them gets his way early. Sima wants range: kicks low, kicks high, straight punches as people step in. Goi wants the clinch and the mat, where his guillotine and back-takes can end things quickly.

The danger for Goi is the entry. He has to cross the kicking range of a fighter who finishes people from it, and his last fight ended the instant he stood in front of a dynamic striker. The danger for Sima is that we don’t really know what he does off his back, because nobody has put him there as a pro. If Goi can survive the first exchanges, get his hands locked and drag this into deep water, the five-round distance becomes a real factor: Sima has never been past the second round as a pro.

Key factors

  • Five rounds. Sima’s longest pro fight lasted 9:59. Goi has gone 15 minutes and won.
  • The first takedown. If Goi gets Sima down and keeps him there in round one, the fight changes. If Sima stuffs it, Goi’s options shrink fast.
  • Confidence after a knockout. Goi’s last outing lasted only seconds. How he handles Sima’s first big shot matters.
  • Venue. Both men are French; the Zénith crowd has been sold a Sima coronation, and Hexagone’s own promo calls him the biggest French hope at -57 kg.

Our pick: Sima by KO/TKO

Goi has a real path, and it runs through the clinch in the first two rounds. But Sima’s kicking game is exactly the kind of offence that punishes a fighter who has to walk forward to grapple, and Goi has been stopped quickly by a striker in his most recent fight. We think Sima keeps it standing and finds the finish before the championship rounds. Pick: Sima by KO/TKO, rounds 1-3. If the fight is still going into round four, Goi’s chances rise considerably.

Co-main: Paul Dena vs Bilal Labid (bantamweight)

Paul Dena (3-1), billed by Hexagone as the “petit prince” of French MMA, fights for the first time since his first pro loss, a first-round knockout by Anzor Baybatyrov at Hexagone 45 in June. Before that he had stopped all three of his pro opponents, including a second-round knockout of Leonardo Paulo Santos in January. Morocco’s Bilal Labid (3-1, per Boxemag) has two TKO wins and a split decision on the Kongs FC and KOC circuit, but his last fight was a second-round TKO loss in July 2025, so he’s coming off more than a year out. Pick: Dena by KO/TKO. He hits harder, he’s at home, and Labid hasn’t fought anyone at this level.
